Apple Crumb Cakes Recipe

You can’t beat a classic dessert like these delicious Apple Crumb Cakes with tender apples and a crunchy cinnamon crumb topping!

Servings: 12 caked


For the topping:

¾ cup brown sugar, packed

½ cup granulated sugar

1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

1 teaspoon salt

¾ cup butter, melted

1½ cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder, (this keeps the topping from sinking too much into the cake)

For the cake:

2½ cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon baking powder

¼ teaspoon salt

1½ sticks butter, softened

1½ cups granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1¼ cups Buttermilk

1½ teaspoons Vanilla extract

4-6 small apples

For the icing:

6 tablespoons softened cream cheese

3 tablespoons softened butter

1 cups powdered sugar

½ teaspoon vanilla extract

2-4 tablespoons warm milk


For the topping:

  1. Mix both sugars, cinnamon, and salt in a medium mixing bowl. Add the warm melted butter and stir to blend.
  2. Add flour and mix with a fork until moist clumps form. Set aside.
